Format
A typical Cliff Osmond Workshop is structured on a four-segment basis; the work accomplished during these four segments is equivalent to the work done in a month of Mr. Osmonds weekly ongoing classes in Los Angeles.

Segment One: Scene Analysis and Cold Reading

1.   Mr. Osmond will conduct an introductory lecture and class discussion on relevant aspects of acting.
2.   Scenes are handed out, analyzed and cold read by workshop participants as to the fundamental plot, conflict and Character.
3.   If time allows, a second scene may be handed out in class (everyone will receive the same scene) to be analyzed by the participants. The scene may or may not be cold-read, out loud, by everyone in front of the class as a participatory learning lesson. Auditioning and audition “choices” will be emphasized, compared and contrasted.

Segment Two: Rehearsal and Preparation

Each scene is rehearsed twice, with personal coaching by Mr. Osmond. Emotional exercises, techniques, physical blocking, the addition of props, etc. will be applied to enhance performance work. (All students are encouraged to attend all rehearsals of all scenes. “Learning occurs by watching as well as doing.”)

Segment Three: Performance & Taping

Each Scene will be performed and/or taped (on 1/2” VHS video tape) twice: once, the way the scene partners have prepared it, and a second time after being given directorial adjustments by Mr. Osmond.

Segment Four

Each actors individual performance will be reviewed in the class and critiqued by: (1) the individual actor him/herself and, (2) Mr. Osmond. All acting performances from beginner to professional will be analyzed according to fundamental acting precepts, so that benefits can be drawn not only for the critiqued actor, but for the entire class as well.
